This page explains some important aspects of how I work and my obligations to clients.
Nature of the Service
Coaching is intended to support clients in working toward specific goals relevant to their personal and/or professional development. It is not meant to replace psychotherapy or other medical interventions. This work often leads to substantial improvement, though the process itself may be uncomfortable at times. You may decide to make changes in your life as a result of the awareness you gain from your experience in coaching. Those changes could affect your relationships or your occupation. Your consent to participate in coaching work should take into consideration the nature of the service and its potential benefits and risks. While there are no guarantees, commitment and effort both during and between sessions will increase the chances for the most successful outcomes.
Payment and Fees
Sessions are anywhere from 45 to 50 minutes in length depending on the focus of the work, while the frequency varies depending upon your needs. Generally, services will continue until you and your coach decide together that the work is complete. It is customary to pay for the service at the time of each session (please have your check written out in advance and ready to submit at the beginning of the session). If you have not taken care of your financial obligation within ninety days, I reserve the right to proceed with formal collection activity.
Contacting Me
You are free to contact me between sessions. If I am not available to take your call, you can leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. If you need to speak with me immediately, please leave a message indicating that your call is urgent and I will make every effort to return the call within 24 hours.
Appointments and Cancellation Policy
Appointment times are reserved for you in advance. If you miss your appointment or cancel less than 48 hours in advance, you will be charged for the missed session unless arrangements have been made for a make-up session.
Confidentiality
Information you reveal in the course of our work will remain confidential unless I am required by law to disclose it (e.g., where there is reasonable suspicion of child, dependent adult or elder abuse, when you pose a danger to others or when you pose a danger to yourself unless protective measures are taken). Should the necessity of releasing confidential information arise, I will make every reasonable effort to discuss this matter with you first; it is my preference to make any such disclosures together with you in person. If you have any questions about the exceptions mentioned above, or if you need any further clarification, I encourage you to discuss them with me directly.
